| In May 1916, more than 450 students from the Japan Medical College resigned en masse as they objected to the administration's policy, and began working toward the establishment of a new school. It was with the help of famous persons such as Takuya Takahashi that the establishment of Tokyo Medical University was made possible. Since its founding, Tokyo Medical University has taken justice, friendship and service as its guiding motto. Furthermore, the spirit of self-reliance and self-study has continued from its initial beginning until today. By this motto we mean that one should rely on oneself in all things. |
