The founding story of Tokyo Medical University, involving the solidarity and efforts of more than 450 students working closely with the founder Mr. Takuya Takahashi during the Taisho democracy is known to all connected with our university. Since its founding, more than ten thousand M.D.s have graduated from our school, succeeding in contributing to the history and philosophy of the university over the years.
We must bear in mind that the principles and philosophy of our institution that have fostered reliable doctors over the years, were not created overnight but with the continuing support of all teaching staff and graduates involved.
We who are presently charged with the responsibility of Tokyo Medical University must act in ways to make every effort in renewing and improving the level of education, without sitting back on the laurels of our past philosophy and traditions.
